Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. by Alice Birch is a call to arms, a revolution on stage, a blurring of boundaries - the boundaries of theatre, of femininity, and of audience expectations - that delivers a vital message to challenge rigid standards and expectations imposed on all types of women today. A series of vignettes, it explores the confines of language, tradition, and expectation in the modern women’s experience. This show tackles sensitive issues with an incredible and surreal sense of humour, taking the daily, almost mundane aspects of oppression and turning them into extreme affirmations of experience, in all their awkwardness and intimacy.
Blue Stocking Effigy is a new intersectional feminist theatre company with a view to creating a collaborative space for cross-media arts. Our ethos is, at its heart, feminist, inclusive, diverse, community focussed, and educational. Please join us for our post-show Q&A session on Thursday Jan. 30th or come to one of our workshops, presented in collaboration with Rewriting for Justice, exploring The Odyssey from the point of view of the 12 hanged maids.
Even if you can’t make it to the show, please consider supporting our fundraiser at https://www.gofundme.com/f/revolting-women-need-your-money . Any small amount helps!
