The Aga Khan Museum's UK Patrons' Chapter, in partnership with The Arts Club, is pleased to present A Conversation on Collecting: From a Private Passion to the Public Domain. Enjoy a discussion between Mohammed Afkhami and Venetia Porter about theRebel, Jester, Mystic, Poet: Contemporary Persians exhibition at the Aga Khan Museum, and the publication Honar: The Afkhami Collection of Modern and Contemporary Iranian Art (Phaidon 2007). In just over a decade, Afkhami has created a truly remarkable collection of modern and contemporary Iranian art. In this talk, Afkhami and Porter will discuss how his collecting interests evolved from a passion for the aesthetics of modern and contemporary Iranian art to the realization that Iran’s greatest contribution to the world has been its rich cultural heritage. Today, the collection enters a new phase as it moves into the public domain through its first major exhibition and publication.
