Helen Kogan - Managing Direct of Kogan Page. Helen joined Kogan Page in 2001, having spent the previous 20 years as a journalist, and became Managing Director in 2006. Kogan Page is an independent publisher founded by Philip Kogan (Helen’s father) in 1967. It publishes 125 titles a year (in both print and digital form) in specialist business areas including Marketing, Human Resources, Leadership, Logistics, Management and Careers. Helen represents independent publishing on the Publisher’s Association Council and the Advisory Board of the London Book Fair.

Dan Hiscocks – Managing Director, of Eye Books. Dan set up and ran Eye-books – originally to publish inspirational travel stories.  He was inspired when he was traveling in South Africa when Mandela was released and gave his famous speech. Dan recently developed a new publishing paradigm in which he co-publishes with authors under the imprint: Lightening Books

Mark Brunton – Managing Director of College Green – High end, university and personal documentaries.  College Green combines art work with narrative to produce a high quality narrative which captures the spirit of an institution, business or prominent individual. Mark also offers a new business approach to publishing these high end books.

Tamara Howard – your MC and host of the event– will discuss her experience of DYI publishing, the perils, pitfalls and pay-offs. Tamara has now written three books, and self-published two.  She can also discuss the perils of working with inexperienced publishers!owHH

 

Price: £15.00 – with any surplus donated to The HCUK Book Prize. Non-Harvard guests are welcome.

The Harvard Prize Book is awarded at each of approximately 150 secondary schools to “an outstanding student in their penultimate year who is academically excellent, exhibits exceptional personal qualities and makes a significant contribution to the school or community.”  The objective of the HCUK programme is to raise Harvard’s visibility amongst UK secondary schools and to encourage talented students to apply to Harvard College
