An Evening with E.O. Wilson- The Meaning of Human Existence

The Harvard Club of the United Kingdom invites you to share an evening with Edward O. Wilson, the legendary father of Biodiversity. Professor Wilson will be discussing his explosive new book, The Meaning of Human Existence, in which he brings together science and philosophy, knowledge and imagination to create a twenty-first century treatise on the difference between human beings and other species. Wilson is alarmed by the possibility of human behaviour interrupting the process of natural selection: are we facing the greatest moral dilemma since God stayed the hand of Abraham?

Date: Friday, November 7th

Time: 6:30pm – 7:45pm

Location: Emmanuel Centre

E.O. Wilson is currently the Pellegrino University Research Professor, Emeritus in Entomology for the Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University. He is the author of the New York Times bestsellers, The Social Conquest of Earth and Anthill: A Novel. He has twice won the Pulitzer Prize, and is the recipient of over a hundred awards for his contributions to science and conservation.

Professor Wilson is here in the UK to champion MEMO, the “Alexandrine” project to build a global beacon for biodiversity on the Jurassic Coast.
